The Road to Driggs, Idaho

Saturday, August 13th- Have been doing lots of visiting, so now will play "catch-up" on the blog...

We left Kalispell on Saturday morning, planning to visit some old Sun City friends who now live in Driggs, Idaho.  It was a little too far to do in one day, so planned to stay in Dillon, Montana, on route.  We arrived there early afternoon, had lunch, and decided to take advantage of the early day by playing some golf.  We played a local nine hole course called Beaverhead.  Although it was just a nine hole, it was in very good condition, and the holes were pretty long.  Unfortunately, Dale and I were NOT in good condition and played terribly...   won't even tell you what we both got!  However, it was a beautiful day and just nice not to be in the car all day.

Sunday, August 14th- Headed to Driggs fairly early in the morning, arriving there just after noon.  We had arranged to meet Rick and Julie, our ex-Sun City friends, for lunch.  Dale and I had stayed in Driggs on our 2009 trip, as it backs up to the Tetons and is not too far from Yellowstone.  It is a pretty small town, with population under 2000, and located at over 6000 feet in elevation.  Dale and I have been noticing the effect of the altitude.  Our friends live down a 1 mile dirt driveway, several miles outside town, in a home on 6 acres.  A really beautiful location with views of the Tetons in front and woods in the back.  It was really great to see them again, and learn a little about life in a small Idaho town- including the existence of a Water Master- interesting!  We stayed overnight with them, and planned to head for Dinosaur National Monument on Monday.
